Verifactu: what changes for your business and how to get ready without the stress

TPV táctil completo con cajón e impresora para bares, restaurantes y comercios

If you have a bar, a restaurant or a shop, you've probably heard of Verifactu and been left with the feeling that it's a headache. Relax: in this article we explain it in plain terms and tell you how to get ready without the stress.

What is Verifactu?

Verifactu is part of the new Anti-Fraud Act. In a nutshell: it requires the software you use to issue your receipts and invoices to be certified software, that records each sale securely and can't be tampered with afterwards. Each invoice is chained to the previous one and can carry a QR code so the Tax Agency can verify it's authentic.

Who does it affect and from when?

It affects practically any business that issues receipts or invoices. The key dates, under the current regulation, are:

  • Companies (S.L. and S.A.): from 1 January 2027.
  • Sole traders: from 1 July 2027.
  • In addition, any new invoicing software you take on must already be adapted.

So you have some leeway, but it's best not to leave it to the last minute: adapting in good time saves you the rush and the scares.

What happens if I don't adapt?

Using invoicing software that isn't certified can lead to penalties of up to €50,000. It's not to frighten you, but to keep it on your radar: it's a mandatory change, not optional.

How to get ready without the hassle

The good news is that adapting is simple if you have the right equipment. Ideally you'd have a POS with software already prepared for Verifactu, so the technical and legal part is sorted and you just work as normal.

At Chollobar we help you with exactly that: we advise you on what your business needs, we configure the equipment and we support you so the change is smooth and with no surprises. If you have questions, let's talk and we'll explain it calmly.
